About Chugach State Park
A hilly, mountainous stretch of terrain covering nearly 500,000 acres makes up most of this land, spreading across south-central Alaska immediately next to Anchorage. The scale of the terrain places it among the larger tracts of protected hill and mountain country adjoining a major Alaskan city. Its boundaries sit right against the urban edge of Anchorage rather than in a remote or isolated stretch of the state.
