About John Martin Reservoir State Park
118 feet tall and 2.6 miles long, John Martin Dam holds back the reservoir at the center of this park, forming the second largest body of water in Colorado by capacity. The surrounding area draws birdwatchers, with documentation of over 400 different bird species recorded there. The reservoir itself carries the same name as the dam that created it.
