About Harriman State Park
Ranchers and conservation groups once managed the land that now forms the 11,000-acre Harriman Wildlife Refuge, the ground on which this park sits within the Henry's Fork Caldera in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Elk, moose, sandhill cranes, and both black and grizzly bears use the refuge, and trumpeter swans gather here in numbers that account for two-thirds of those wintering anywhere in the contiguous United States.
