About Land of the Yankee Fork State Park
Frontier mining shaped this 521-acre park, which interprets the boom-and-bust history of the ghost towns Bayhorse, Bonanza, and Custer. Its interpretive center holds a museum and a gold panning station where visitors can try the technique that drew prospectors to the area. Challis Hot Springs joined the park as a unit in 2022, adding to a property that began with a twenty-acre purchase in 1990. The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation runs the park with the United States Forest Service.
