About Prophetstown State Park
A restored Shawnee village and a 1920s-era farmstead anchor the open-air museum here, marking the ground once occupied by a large multi-tribal settlement founded in 1808 by Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa. The community they built eventually fell after the nearby Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811, fought about a mile from what is now Battle Ground. Living history exhibits let visitors walk through both the Native settlement and the farm-era buildings on the same grounds.
