About Judge C. R. Magney State Park
The Brule River splits at the Devil's Kettle, where half its flow drops into a pothole and vanishes underground before rejoining the river downstream. This rock formation and waterfall sits along Lake Superior's North Shore within the park's boundaries. The park's name honors Clarence R. Magney, a former Duluth mayor and Minnesota Supreme Court justice who helped establish eleven state parks and waysides along the North Shore.
