About Pirogue Island State Park
An island in the Yellowstone River became protected land in 1982, preserving 269 acres accessible only by crossing the water. The park contains 2.8 miles of designated hiking trails across its island terrain. Fishing for sauger, river floating, wildlife viewing, and searching for Montana moss agate are activities the land and river here support.
