About Chadron State Park
Ponderosa pine covers most of the 974 acres here, with cottonwood trees growing near Chadron Creek and its lagoon. The land sits within the Nebraska National Forest and takes in a stretch of the Pine Ridge escarpment, giving the terrain more relief than the surrounding plains. The creek runs through the property, and the pine woods extend across the park rather than being confined to one section.
