About Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park
1874 marks the year this cavalry outpost was established along the North Loup River, and it remained active only until 1881. The grounds preserve original buildings from that era, including the post headquarters, enlisted men's barracks, officers' quarters, commanding officers quarters, and post hospital, while other structures on site have been rebuilt. The site presents a firsthand look at what a typical U.S. Army outpost of that period looked like.
