About Rye Patch State Recreation Area
Water impoundment on the Humboldt River created Rye Patch Reservoir, and the recreation area was set aside to sit alongside it. The 2,400-acre unit adjoins the 11,000-acre reservoir as well as the smaller Pitt-Taylor Reservoirs. Access runs by way of State Route 401, which meets Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 95 roughly 22 miles from the reservoir shore.
Hours, fees, camping, reservations and closures are set by the park and change often. Check the official park site before you go.
