About Rhododendron State Park

A 16-acre stand of native Rhododendron maximum spreads across the slopes on and around Little Monadnock Mountain, marking the northern edge of the species' natural range and standing as the largest of nineteen such stands found in central and northern New England. The stand was named a National Natural Landmark in 1982. Beyond the rhododendrons, the 2,723-acre preserve also holds wild blueberries, cranberries, mountain laurel, heathers, mayflower, and wintergreen.
