About Sumner Lake State Park
A 4,500-acre reservoir on the Pecos River forms the center of this park, backed up behind the Sumner Dam built by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1939. The water holds largemouth bass, catfish, crappie and walleye. The surrounding land sits on the eastern plains at an elevation of 4,300 feet.
