A gorge cut by the Genesee River gave this stretch of land its reason for protection, with the water dropping over several large falls along the way. The park stretches roughly 17 miles, tracing the river north through the gorge, and covers 14,427 acres across Livingston and Wyoming Counties, reaching as far as the towns of Leicester, Mount Morris, Portage, Castile, and Genesee Falls.
