About Tyler State Park
985.5 acres of land here were deeded to the state by private owners in 1934 and 1935. Civilian Conservation Corps Company 2888 carried out the original improvements before the park opened to the public in 1939. The park protects this wooded acreage under state ownership, preserving the Depression-era CCC work that shaped its early development.
