About Chena River State Recreation Area
The Chena River runs through the center of this 254,080-acre recreation area, which spans a large stretch of land east of Fairbanks. Arctic grayling fishing on the river itself is catch-and-release, though grayling caught in the three stocked ponds may be kept. The area contains clusters of granite tors, along with trails for hiking, ATV, snowmachine and sled dog use, a shooting range, and public-use cabins. Its road ends at the privately run Chena Hot Springs resort.
