About Lathrop State Park

1962 marked the opening of Colorado's very first state park on this ground, purchased that same year and later named for Harold Lathrop, who served as the state's first director of parks. Anglers here have two separate bodies of water to choose between, Martin Lake and Horseshoe Lake, each stocked with species ranging from tiger muskie and rainbow trout to catfish, saugeye and wipers. The pairing of lakes gives visitors a choice of fishing grounds within the same grounds.
