About Akaka Falls State Park
At 442 feet, the park's namesake waterfall drops into a steep gorge along Hawaii Route 220, west of Honomū. A loop path traces the upper edge of that gorge, giving views of the falls along with Kahūnā Falls, roughly 300 feet tall, and a handful of smaller cascades. The waterfall's name honors a Hawaiian chief, grandson of Kūlanikapele and Kīakalohia.
