About Sacred Falls State Park
A rockfall on Mother's Day in 1999 forced this park to close, and it has remained shut ever since, though hikers still trespass past the fines that come with entry. The protected land covers Kaluanui gulch and the waterfalls at its far end, a site regarded as a wahi pana, a storied place, within the district of Koʻolauloa, tied to a body of Hawaiian lore.
