About John James Audubon State Park
Named for the ornithologist and painter John James Audubon, who lived in Henderson between 1810 and 1819 when the settlement was still a frontier village, the park honors that period of his life. It sits along U.S. Route 41 just south of the Ohio River. The connection to Audubon's residence there forms the basis for the park's identity and purpose.
