About Makoshika State Park
Badlands carved from the Hell Creek Formation preserve dinosaur fossils embedded in the exposed rock layers here. At more than 11,000 acres, this is the largest state park in Montana, set on the southeast side of Glendive. The terrain consists of eroded formations shaped over time, giving visitors access to a landscape where fossil-bearing rock remains visible at the surface.
