About Rosebud Battlefield State Park
Grasslands here mark the ground where Sioux and Cheyenne warriors met General Crook's troops on June 17, 1876, a fight the Northern Cheyenne called The Battle Where the Girl Saved Her Brother. The park preserves a large stretch of this battlefield, designated a National Historic Landmark, and operates as a day use area with hiking, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing across the open terrain.
