About Rockhound State Park
Quartz crystals, geodes, jasper, and perlite draw visitors who come to search the ground and take specimens home. The park sits on the rocky slopes of the Little Florida Mountains, an area named for its mineral abundance. When it opened, it became the first park in the country to permit collecting rocks and minerals for personal use, a policy that still shapes what people come here to do.
