About Franklin Mountains State Park
Named for the mountain range it protects, this park covers 24,247.56 acres of terrain that rises to 7,192 feet at North Franklin Mountain, the highest point in the range. Headquarters sit at 5,426 feet elevation. The range itself stretches 23 miles from El Paso toward New Mexico, and the park is described as one of the largest urban parks in the country to lie entirely within a city's limits. It is managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
