About Little Missouri State Park
Badlands terrain covers most of the more than 6,000 acres here, sitting on the western side of the Little Missouri River near where it meets Lake Sakakawea. Much of that terrain can only be reached on foot or horseback, and the park offers over 45 miles of trails along with campgrounds set up for hiking and equestrian use. Most of the land is managed under lease from federal and private owners rather than owned outright by the park.
