About Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area
A 350-foot deep cavern drops from a surface opening measuring roughly 50 by 140 feet, forming what is recognized as Texas' largest single-chambered cave. The surrounding 1,859.7 acres protect this sinkhole and the bat habitat inside it, where up to three million Mexican free-tailed bats roost between April and October. The land is managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
