About Fannin Battleground State Historic Site
Coleto Creek marks the ground where Texian forces under Col. James W. Fannin fought the Mexican Army, led by Gen. Jose de Urrea, over two days in March 1836. Surrounded and outnumbered, Fannin's men surrendered on the site, and were later executed at Presidio La Bahia nearby. The site preserves this battlefield of the Texas Revolution.
