About Zaragoza Birthplace State Historic Site
General Ignacio Zaragoza, who led Mexican forces to victory at the 1862 Battle of Puebla, was born on this ground, and the site marks that birthplace. It sits next to Presidio La Bahía within Goliad State Park and Historic Site. The grounds hold a bronze statue of Zaragoza and an amphitheater.
