About Lost Dutchman State Park
320 acres of desert sit at the base of the Superstition Mountains along the Apache Trail, taking their name from the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine, a mine that legend says was lost and never found. That story ties the land to Old West tales rather than to a confirmed discovery. The park lies east of Phoenix off U.S. Highway 60, within reach of the mountain range that gives the surrounding area its rugged character.
