About Saddleback Butte State Park

A granite butte rises abruptly from the flat floor of the Antelope Valley, marking the high point of this Mojave Desert park. The surrounding land preserves a stretch of Joshua tree woodland in the desert region between Lancaster and Edwards, within the unincorporated community of Hi Vista. The park has been protected since 1960, set on the open desert terrain that separates Lake Los Angeles from the land to the north.
