About Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park

Coquina walls are what remain of a sugar mill and plantation buildings dating to the antebellum period, when this was the largest plantation in East Florida. The operation depended on the forced labor of enslaved Africans and African Americans. Visitors can see the ruins of the main structures built from coquina, a sedimentary rock formed from shell fragments.
