About Ferne Clyffe State Park
A spur trail links the park to US Bicycle Route 76 along the east side of Illinois Route 37, marking one entry point into the property's 2,430 acres. The state bought this land from Emma Rebman in 1949, and it remains managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The original entrance near Goreville was judged unsafe for driving and was replaced in the early 1980s by the current access point on Route 37, leaving the old road largely unused since 1982.
