About Dixon Springs State Park

801 acres sit on a massive block of rock that dropped some 200 feet along a fault line running northwest across the region. This geologic setting places the park among the cluster of state parks within the Illinois Shawnee Hills. Land acquisition for the park began in 1946, and it lies along Illinois Route 146 near its junction with Route 145.
