About Trail of Tears State Park

A stretch of Mississippi River shoreline anchors this 3,415-acre park, set aside as a memorial to the Cherokee people who died crossing this region on the Trail of Tears. An interpretive center on the grounds presents exhibits on that history alongside displays of local wildlife specimens. The park also contains an archaeological site listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1970.
