About Shackford Head State Park
87 acres of headland on Moose Island make up this park, occupying a peninsula that divides Cobscook Bay from Broad Cove. The land takes its name from John Shackford, a soldier of the American Revolutionary War who once owned the headlands. It is managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, within the city of Eastport.
