About Port Crescent State Park
Sand dunes and shoreline run along Lake Huron at the tip of The Thumb, where the Pinnebog River meets the water. The 640-acre park occupies the former site of Port Crescent, a ghost town that once stood at the river's mouth along what is now M-25. Since 2012 it has held designation as a Michigan dark sky preserve, a distinction tied to the openness of its lakeside terrain.
