A pre-contact habitation site occupied during two separate periods lies within this forest and prairie transition zone in the Leaf Mountains. The park spans 9,250 acres of hardwood cover, including sugar maple, basswood, American elm, and oak, trees that produce a seasonal display of fall color across the landscape.
