About Glendalough State Park
Land once held as a private resort and game farm by the owners of Cowles Media Company, publisher of the Star Tribune, now spans 1,931 acres of land and another 1,000 acres of water near Battle Lake. The Nature Conservancy took title from Cowles in 1990 before passing it to the State of Minnesota, which marked its opening as a state park with an Earth Day ceremony on April 22, 1992. The name recalls Glendalough in Ireland.
