About Pigeon Swamp State Park

Open ponds and upland hardwood forest cover this undeveloped 1,078-acre tract on Deans Rhode Hall Road in South Brunswick, including a stand recognized as a strong example of inner coastal plain lowland deciduous hardwood forest. The land once served as a major nesting site for passenger pigeons before the species died out, and it was named a National Natural Landmark in December 1976. No facilities or developed trails are described, only the intact habitat itself.
