About Rio Grande Nature Center State Park
The Rio Grande borders this 38-acre preserve, where roughly two-thirds of the ground is kept undeveloped for wildlife habitat. Four man-made ponds recreate wetland conditions once found along the river's historic floodplain, drawing birds and other animals to the site. The remaining land holds a visitor center, a pair of gardens, an education building, and space used by the nonprofit Wildlife Rescue, Inc., along with spots set up for observing animals in the preserve.
