About Sandy Island Beach State Park
A 1,500-foot natural sandy beach lines the eastern shore of Lake Ontario here. The park sits near the southern end of a 17-mile stretch of sandy shoreline, coastal dunes, and wetlands, a stretch that a 1959 study described as containing the finest beaches on the entire lake along with the finest wildlife habitat.
