About Watkins Glen State Park
Nineteen sections of stream-carved gorge separate the park's lower and upper portions, with the lower area sitting close to the village and the upper part opening into wooded land. The site drew visitors as a private attraction starting in 1863 before becoming public parkland in 1906. Its location south of Seneca Lake places it within New York's Finger Lakes region.
