About Kerr Lake State Recreation Area

3,376 acres of woodlands line the shores of Kerr Lake, a 50,000-acre reservoir created artificially near the North Carolina-Virginia border. The recreation area spans both Vance and Warren counties and takes its name from Congressman John H. Kerr, who backed the original project to build the lake. The land protected here is the wooded shoreline surrounding that large man-made body of water.
