The C. J. Brown Reservoir, a flood control impoundment built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Buck Creek, dominates this 4,016-acre recreation area, which the state leases from the Corps rather than owns outright. Activities tied to the reservoir and surrounding land include camping, boating, hunting, fishing, swimming, picnicking, and hiking, available throughout the year. The site fits into a larger flood control system built for the Ohio River drainage basin.
