About Hueston Woods State Park

A 625-acre man-made lake anchors nearly 3,000 acres of protected land spanning both Butler and Preble counties. Within its boundaries stands a beech-maple climax forest recognized as a National Natural Landmark, a remnant of woodland left largely undisturbed. The mix of open water and old forest cover gives visitors a choice between lake-focused activity and walking through mature hardwood stands.
