About Hunting Island State Park

A 5,000-acre barrier island sits between Harbor Island and Fripp Island, undeveloped compared to much of the surrounding Lowcountry coast. The park forms part of the ACE Basin estuarine reserve and holds a 19th century lighthouse that carries the island's name. Its beach has drawn attention in travel publications, including a 2013 ranking among the top 25 beaches in the United States by TripAdvisor, and the park draws more visitors than any other state park facility in South Carolina.
