About Huntsville State Park
Lake Raven anchors this 2,083-acre wooded tract, which sits inside the boundaries of the Sam Houston National Forest. The land was set aside for recreation and opened to the public in 1956, and it has been run by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department since. Wooded terrain covers most of the acreage, giving the park its forested character within the surrounding national forest land.
