About Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site
The inn at the center of this site was built by Henry Fanthorp and served travelers along the stagecoach routes of early Texas. The state acquired the property, just 6 acres, in 1977 from a descendant of Fanthorp, then spent a decade researching and restoring the building to match its appearance in 1850. It opened to visitors on October 4, 1987.
