About Lake Somerville State Park and Trailway

Opened in 1970 under the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, this 8,700-acre complex spans Lee and Burleson counties along the shore of Lake Somerville. It is divided into four separate units: the Birch Creek Unit, the Nails Creek Unit, the Somerville Trailway, and the Somerville Public Hunting Land. The combination of lakeshore acreage, a dedicated trailway, and public hunting land within one park sets its layout apart from a single contiguous tract.
