About Lipantitlan State Historic Site
Fort Lipantitlán once stood on this 5-acre tract, built as a Mexican garrison and named for the Lipan Apaches who lived in the area before it. The ground marks where the 1835 Battle of Lipantitlán was fought between Mexican and Texian forces, an early clash in the lead-up to Texas independence. The site sits at the junction of FM 624 and FM 70, a small preserved parcel tied to that single military engagement.
