About Watters Smith Memorial State Park

Pioneer settler Watters Smith, who arrived from New Jersey in 1796 with his wife Elizabeth Davisson Smith, is honored at this 532-acre historic district above Duck Creek. A relocated log cabin stands alongside period farm buildings from the early 1800s, and the family's later home now serves as a museum, with a second building holding local farm artifacts from earlier generations. Tours run from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and visitors can swim, picnic, hike, or ride horseback on the grounds.
